Both M600’s at KHL Printing has been equipped with a new ink control system with CIP3 presetting, and one of the machines was upgraded with the DRCS closed loop register system.

“We have solutions available to retrofit any press, this package for M600 presses is customized out of our standard systems and it’s prepared to upgrade the CPC system without disturbing production, says Mattias Andersson, Managing Director DCOS. EKTAB is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Eskilstuna-Kuriren media group which among other things produces morning papers Eskilstuna Kuriren, Strengnäs Tidning, Katrineholms Kuriren, Tidning Folket and a significant portion of commercial production. In the printing plant in Eskilstuna is a total of four printing towers, a mixture of KBA COLORA and A500 units and two folders. With its vision " to provide the best quality and the shortest lead times in coldest printing" they decided in early 2011 to equip the main folder with DRCS closed loop register system for the maximum of eight ribbons which can be run simultaneously.

And it all starts with an idea. The greatest idea of 2004 was to resign. Four colleagues came to the same conclusion. Mattias Andersson, Tomi Söderbacka, Johan Börjesson and Johan Andersson were friends at work, and they shared a passion for automation. This was a passion they only rarely would be able to endulge in. They wanted to change that.

"We had, and still have, a strong determination to make everyday work better for our customers by being innovative. Basically we´re a team of technicinans with a vision. We´re simply convinced that things can be done a little smarter all the time", says Mattias Anderson, CEO.

A key requirement was that the system must handle continuous register movement (so-called anti-embossing) to avoid ghosting, piling and embossing. Something that has been a problem before this upgrade. The press is now equipped with DCOS DRCS color-to-color register and ribbon control for two ribbons.

"We experience Aktietrykkeriet as a highly skilled printer who throughout the procurement process proved to be familiar with and knowledgeable in their expactations of the system. We have an ambition to take a position even at Heatset market and cooperation with Aktietrykkeriet is an important step in that direction for us, "said Mattias Andersson, CEO DCOS.

Roger Olsen, manager Aktietrykkeriet press: "We chose DCOS due to: ease of use, micro marks, anti-embossing, proximity to suppliers and a competitive price. The system is fast, stable and we achieved better quality. Washing intervals has also increased and our running waste is therefore reduced. We are very pleased with the setup, solution and supplier".

The installation was compleded in February this year and is now used in full.
